Distribution: Europe, Caucasus, Siberia, Russian Far East,
Japan, Canada, northern USA.
Statistics: 1 species in Palearctic, 4 species
worldwide.
Host Plants: Equisetum arvense
(Medvedev & Roginskaja, 1988).
Diagnosis:
Body small, broadly oval, more or less convex from lateral
view. Color dark brown, metallic bronze, sometimes with
greenish lustre; elytral apex lighter.
Head pro-hypognathous, oval, more or less flat from
lateral view. Frontal ridge wide and flat between antennal calli,
narrower apically, not forming T-shaped ridge with anterior
margin of head capsule. Antennal calli separated, very narrow,
transverse, well delineated from vertex by deep furrow.
Interantennal space wider than diameter of antennal socket,
almost as wide as transverse diameter of eye. Orbital line
present. Eye small. Clypeus and labrum short. Antenna 11
segmented, filiform.
Pronotum subquadrate, sinuate laterally and
posteriorly, with basal transverse and longitudinal impressions.
Procoxal cavity closed behind. Intercoxal prosternal process
wide. Mesosternum short and wide.
Elytra oval, more or less convex from lateral view,
with well developed humeral calli. Elytral punctures arranged in
striae; interspaces slightly convex. Epipleuron notably tapered
toward apex.
Metatibia thin, cylindrical, more or less long,
slightly expanded toward apex. First metatarsal segment not
longer than following three segments combined.
