Distribution: The majority of species occur in the
Palearctic region, a few species in the New World, Africa, China
and Vietnam.
Statistics: 15 species in Palearctic, about 20 species
worldwide.
Host Plants: Helianthemum
vulgare, Rheum tanguticum, Rumex acetosa, R.crispus, Polygonum
aviculare (Heikertinger 1951).
Diagnosis:
Body small, cylindrical, convex from lateral view. Color
dark brown or black with or without metallic lustre,
sometimes elytra with light-colored apices.
Head hypo-prognathous, ovoid, more or less convex
from lateral view. Frontal ridge not raised, wide and flat, not
forming elevated ridge with anterior margin of head capsule.
Antennal calli absent. Transfrontal suture and orbital line
present; latter situated very close to dorsal margin of eye.
Interantennal space slightly wider than transverse diameter of
eye. Eye small, prominent. Antenna 11-segmented, 5 apical
segments moniliform.
Pronotum wide, convex, basally as wide as elytra,
with two short, longitudinal antebasal furrows. Procoxal cavity
closed behind. Intercoxal prosternal process flat, not wide,
covered with deep large punctures.
Elytra elongate-oval, with weakly developed humeral
calli. Elytral punctures arranged in striae; interspaces usually
narrow, slightly convex. Epipleuron narrow, subhorizontal.
Metatibia thin, laterally flattened, dorsally convex
except apex. Tarsal segments narrow, first metatarsal segment not
longer than following three segments combined.
