The monotypic genus Microsimus belongs into the subfamily Phyllomyzinae and can be found in South America. Larvae of Microsimus luteus develop in nests of Crematogaster stolli ants.
The genus can be recognized by two postpronotal setae, bases of antennae widely separated, face with flat plate between antennae, and an enlarged palpus.
