Milichia is the name giving genus of the family Milichiidae. Consisting of over 30 species, it is one of the larger genera of Milichiidae and belongs into the subfamily Milichiinae. The genus occurs in all biogeographical regions except for the Neotropical Region. Milichia species have been reared from garbage, latrines, guano, and carrion. Several species have been observed to feed on honeydew, others are ant-associated. Males form small swarms.
The genus can be recognized by a bare anepisternum and an entire (neither notched nor emarginate) posterior eye margin.
