Milichiella, consisting of over 40 species and is one of the larger genera of Milichiidae. It belongs into the subfamily Milichiinae and occurs worldwide. Milichiella species have been reared from old wood, compost, manure, garbage, decaying vegetable matter, and carrion. Several species have been observed to feed on honeydew or to be kleptoparasitic. Males form swarms.
The genus can be recognized by a notch or emargination in the posterior eye margin and by the eyes being more than 1.5x as high as wide.
