Type Data
obliqua: Lectotype - Female (MNHNP), Cuba; designated by inference of holotype by
Steyskal (1975: 357).
mombinpraeoptans: Holotype - Female (National Museum of Natural History (USMN)),
Puerto Rico: Rio Piedras.
trinidadensis: Holotype - Female (National Museum of Natural History (USMN)),
Trinidad: Tabaquite.
ligata: Syntypes Both sexes (CPARJ?), Brazil: Rio de Janeiro.
Distribution
Anastrepha obliqua is known from Mexico (north to southern Sinaloa, Aguascalientes
& northern Veracruz) south to Argentina, Greater & Lesser Antilles.
It has been reported from Dominica and St. Lucia (Ambrose 1991). It was briefly
established in southern Florida (USA) in the 1930s, but was eradicated and is not
currently present (Steck 2001).
