The products of the Biosystematic Database of World Diptera are disseminated in three formats and distributed via three media. The formats represent the traditional catalog, nomenclator and species database. The media are the traditional printed book for the catalog in the serial MYIA, and the online databases via the WWW for the nomenclator and species database, which are also periodically archived to the Diptera Data Dissemination Disk (a CD-ROM serial). The nomenclator and species database are FileMakerPro® applications.

The following is a sequential list of the products of the Biosystematic Database of World Diptera. This project was first publically announced at the XVII International Congress of Entomology, Hamburg, Germany (1984). Unfortunately due to the failure to obtain the necessary funding, the initial incarnation of the project died. Later special USDA funding for work on fruit flies (1989) became available and using the Tephritidae as a test taxon the first real products were produced. Funding from the Schlinger Foundation (2000, 2002-2007) and GBIF (2003) aided in producing the online nomenclator.
