Getting Started - About the Keys
A User Guide (from a link in each tool's menu) will tell you how to use the Lucid key, with some descriptive images of what to expect when you open it. You must have Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installed on your computer to be able to run the Lucid Keys. Note that you may access and use all of the links in each tool's menu without having JRE installed, except for "Run Key". Clicking on this button in any of the tools will result in an error message or "page not found" if JRE is not installed.
If you do not have Java version 1.4.2, or greater, or are not sure, then click on the Menu link, Check for Java to find out how to check for, as well as download and install JRE. If you already have JRE installed and wish to begin by running a key, click the "Run Key" menu item on that page. This action will start the applet and open the key in a new window on top of the one you are currently on. A dialog box will appear with a choice of responses, such as "Trust" , "OK", or "Yes" depending on the browser version and operating system you are using. To open the key, you must click on one of these choices, anything else and you will get an error message.
If you are using Safari on a Mac to open a key, Lucid will put up a blank page that says Safari cannot find the file. This seems to be unique with Safari and the Lucid applet. Just close this page to view the key.
