Beneath the full-sized pictures (not the thumbnails) used on these "good, bad, & ugly" pages, the name of the photographer is cited. Links back to the photographer's section of this web page are provided. Those sections, in turn, have links to the web site of the photographer or the owner of the pictures.
Pictures should not be copied from the SEL web site for use on other sites or in other ways without the consent of the photographers or the owners of the photographs. Unless the photographer (as opposed to the identifier of the species) is an employee of the Systematic Entomology Laboratory, please do not ask us for permission to use the photographs. Except for pictures from the ARS Image Gallery (see bottom of this page), such requests need to go to the photographers or organizations cited under each picture.
Mark Cassino (markcassino.com)
Mark Cassino's superb pictures of southwestern Michigan insects are used extensively on these pages. At the time the pictures were posted, Mark was a devoted amateur photogapher, but, in the fall of 2001, he decided to pursue photography full time and founded Mark Cassino Photography. The sample of photos shown here represents only a small fraction of those available for viewing on the MCP web site. The site also has many fine nature pictures of other sorts, as well as pages concerning insect macrophotography. The latter include links to other sites providing information on insect photography.

You can also go directly to the insect pictures of the California Academy of Sciences.
